Glimpses of tomorrow await you in this collection. The ultimate amusement park will offer you death. Everlasting youth will take you to the point of no return. The artificial landscape will fill you with joy if it doesn’t scare the living daylights out of you. The Narcissist Guru will show you your many selves. There is the ultimate work of art that will change the planet and there is the old vaudeville star who is still being stalked half a century later. And finally there’s the coming of the super economy, a thing to be feared.
M.H. Vesseur published many short stories in literary magazines in the Netherlands, Belgium, the USA and Canada. This collection contains In Snuff Park, Babyface Junkie, Narcissist Guru, Territory Games, Sketches of a Worldwide Christo And Jeanne-Claude, Beloved Stalker and Burning Neil Armstrong.
We never saw reality coming. It reveals itself to us at the last possible moment, every morning, always unexpected, always indelible, never foreseen. We should have looked better, some say. I hardly ever share that sentiment. The extrapolation of the present reveals much of what awaits us, and if we follow that direction we find ourselves in an imaginary landscape that resembles a more believable future than that of statistics and common sense. Many of my short stories have been the result of that process. ×
