INTRODUCTION
There are many openings and gambits in chess, and playing different ones is what keeps the game exciting and fun. Chess openings and gambits go in and out of fashion, just like anything else. In alfabetical order we will take a look at some of the more popular ones played today as well as some of the most played openings and gambits of the past. Reading about this and memorizing some of the moves discussed will give you a much better chance of winning your games and will make you a more interesting and dynamic chess player in general.
This book is just an introduction to opening theory and will cover only a small amount of knowledge that is already out there. However, this book is useful for players of all levels and of all ages, provided you understand the rules of the game. It also helps if you are familiar with basic chess terminology. I will provide you with some general ideas and tips, but mostly some exciting tricks and traps that you may see on the board early on in the game. Some of these moves will likely come as a surprise to your opponent. They often involve a little bit of risk-taking and are especially effective in blitz and rapid games when opponents have little time to calculate perfect responses. At the same time, you might be surprised to see some higher-rated players than you fall for some of these traps.
