Samenvatting
Welcome aboard
This year the Douglas DC-3 celebrates its 90 Anniversary. Its first flight was on the 17th December 1935 at Clover Field,
Santa Monica, California.
To mark this uneventful event, I have produced this “COLOMBIAN DC-3s – A PICTORIAL REVIEW” book, for all DC-3 and C-47 aficionadas across the globe.
As an Aviation photographer myself I have followed the DC-3 since the early 80s and traveled across the globe in search of the many active & non-active examples.
Over the years I have written many articles and collected tons of DC-3 post cards, slides, photo’s, stickers, brochures, time-tables, kit models, patches and memorabilia. In addition I have traveled to Alaska, Canada, United States, Caribbean, South America and Africa to photograph DC-3 workhorse in action, war-birds, hangar queens and derelict aircraft.
I have traveled twice to Colombia in search of its rich Aviation history which started in the 50s and 60s. Countless DC-3 operators flew within the country from two major DC-3 hubs mainly ‘Bogota’ and ‘Villavicencio’ airport.
This pictorial book contains a photographic review of most of the DC-3 operators by its ‘HK’ registration, with a short caption on the aircraft history. In addition it contains two articles on both of my two visits in 1999/2015 and a personal DC-3 flight adventure over the jungles of the Meta Province.
