De dansers en musici in dit boek zijn hoogopgeleide en toegewijde kunstenaars, die vanuit hun passie voor kunst bijdragen aan dit unieke project. In de bodypaints en beschilderde stoffen zijn de Aardse Elementen verwerkt en de naaktsculpturen contrasterend als spiegel.
De fotografie met 120 top musici en balletdansers, is onderverdeeld in 5 thema’s: aarde, metaal, water, lucht, hout en vuur.
De beschildering op het lichaam is een weerspiegeling van het element waarmee de danser herkenbaar blijft als mens. Omdat de dansers hun eigen expressie uitdrukken in beweging is de beschildering overwegend abstract ritmisch, waardoor het beschilderde lichaam in meerdere posities een spannend beeld geeft in wisselwerking met de achtergrond. Hierdoor benadrukken de schildering en de danser de grootsheid van de elementen. Licht en donker versterken de symboliek.
De fotosessies vonden plaats op bijzondere locaties in Europa: in kerken, aan zee en op mythische plekken zoals de hunebedden en Stonehenge. Ook werd gefotografeerd met dansers bij idyllische watervallen en op bergtoppen als de Zugspitze en de Mont Blanc bij volle maan. De foto’s zijn origineel, slechts licht bewerkt. Een prachtig fotoboek dat blijft boeien.

Nude sculptures, painted fabrics and Body paints of ballet dancers and musicians. Dedicated to their craft, 120 professional dancers and musicians participating in this art project interpret the theme of the elements through their own artistic perspective. There is a continuous interaction between water, air, wood, fire, earth, and metal. The abstract and rhythmic design of the body art forms the visual foundation of each composition.
Many of the photographs were taken at distinctive and symbolic locations across Europe — including churches, lakes, and ancient sites such as the 5,000-year-old dolmens D1 and G1, and Stonehenge. Other sessions took place in dramatic natural settings, such as the white cliffs at Birling Gap, the summit of the Zugspitze (2,962 meters) and in Chamonix at sunset, overlooking the iconic Mont Blanc.
In each image, the artistic expression interacts with its environment, while the performer remains recognisably human. The collaboration between the body paint artist, photographer, and performer enhances the visual and conceptual depth of Elements of the Earth. Step back. Allow the image to unfold.
