Keeping all Secrets Away From the Public
In the mansion, Samlen’s living quarters are, naturally, his private space. They are located on the ground floor overlooking a big well-kept lawn and a parking area. At the end of this lawn an avenue of tall trees shelters the estate from the outside world.
There is a basement underneath the mansion. Officially this is a sports centre for Samlen though, across most of the space, the three of them have set up a test location. All their research on harvesting the 13th Source is safely hidden away from sight down here. Kadir and George spend a lot of time working in this area. In a digital laboratory, George has designed a simulation-based engineering program to test and analyse their ideas. The program includes rural geospace data as well as socio-economic data covering Northern Europe. The program calculates and identifies the safest, and most prosperous, rural living areas.
In addition, the program simulates Kadir’s various hypotheses on harvesting the 13th Source. It measures stability and safety conditions in a digital village. Next, they run multiple tests on a small-scale, wooden model of a Samlen village. Keeping a fire extinguisher in close proximity.
George’s program has revealed that there is an abundance of safe, rural areas in Northern Europe. As of now, only the four in construction have been revealed to the public.
The Board of investors in Villafonden is currently debating locations in the remaining eight countries.
Every now and then, Kadir feels envious of Samlen and George. Their task seems so easy in comparison with his. Kadir’s theoretical study and biography of the scientist Nicolas Tesla had barely passed and had, as predicted, made a fairly poor impression on his professors. His friends have piles of books on their subjects! All the while, Kadir’s vision remains elusive to him.
Even so George and Samlen remain determined and committed to Kadir. They too believe in Kadir’s visions. The three of them have agreed to join forces and make everything come together in their Masters thesis… some years from now.
Kadir set aside his wish that his own father would be proud of him. This weighed on his heart. In particular, one afternoon whilst dining at the Pancake Mill with George (whose parents were visiting from Florida), suddenly he sensed Villa. While looking on in silence at George and his parents, for a brief moment, Kadir felt the appreciative hand of Villa on his own shoulder…. then it was gone again.
George's Bachelor thesis was equally as successful as that of Samlen. He wrote about the benefits of geospatial programming and introducing ‘sponge’ villages in Northern Europe. In particular, in the Ahr Valley where he and his girlfriend, Gretchen, are actively involved in the process of rebuilding Ahrweiler.
Among other things, George has introduced sponge techniques in the Ahr Valley. Gretchen’s grandpa, Hans, along with other local families and friends of the couple, have established a local association to rebuild and stabilise the area. Together with this group, George and Gretchen have achieved recognition for their accomplishments.
