Introduction
Hello, my dear reader,
I am happy to be writing again. This book has been long in the making. A couple of years ago, during a specific period, I noticed that new dog owners were facing challenges with their dogs.
I saw them running after a dog in a harness with a long leash, having no control. The dog, happy-go-lucky, sniffing everywhere, running to every child with an ice-cream and devouring it or to any other dog. A very energetic scene with little or no control.
Or I would see very frightened owners taking the detour through the bushes, just for their unreliable dog and the other dog, not to meet. “Mine is not so nice!” they would shout from afar.
Or the over-concerned owner talking to the dog like it’s a baby and lifting it off the ground when another dog approaches.
Do you recognise yourself in one of these descriptions?
Or do you want to understand your dog better and have a good relationship with it?
This book is to give you a sense of understanding of dogs and how to handle them best. It helps you to be relaxed and confident with your dog, so you can enjoy your life with it.
I am not a dog trainer nor a dog psychologist. I am a Professional Kinesiologist, a lifetime dog owner and a dog lover.
In my practice, I work with people and with animals. Very often, the boss comes with the dog, because it shows odd behaviour or is not feeling well. Dog owners love their dogs more than anything in the world. They also seek good care for it. Often better than for themselves.
I am always very glad to be working with dogs, because they do not beat around the bush. They are open and honest. They show me the problem and I balance it. They have no hidden agendas.
Very often, the dog shows what is going wrong with the owner or in the family. Dogs are well-grounded and are Divine energy. They are the family’s emotional backbone. When there is too much going on in the family, the dog becomes ill itself.
This book will be a collection of stories about or with dogs in my 56 years of experience with them. The dogs in my life have been my friends, my loved ones, my teachers and my helpers.
It has been almost 2 weeks since Jane died. Jane was nearly 16 years old and the best dog we could ever have wished for as a family in this period of our lives.
This book starts with her and ends with her. She helps me write it in Spirit.
If people had to describe Jane, it would be: “She is such a sweet dog, kind, calm, confident and wise.”
To me, she was the perfect family dog, sailing dog, car dog, house dog, children’s dog, nomad dog and therapy dog. She was social, loving and wise. We were very connected. We have the same Oversoul.
Although it is quiet without her in the bus, I live in a campervan, and the bus seems 10 times larger since she is no longer here. I am mostly grateful for all the good times we had. And I’d love to write this book in that energy.
I’d love this book to be a grateful story for all the dogs we love, have loved and will love. They bring so much joy and abundance to our lives. Let’s make this the best time together.
Come and read with me and Jane!
