Cradle to Cradle®
In this book we show how we can improve the quality of the stuff around us. We can do this by using the right materials to prevent pollution by toxic materials. We need to be able to recycle things by using the materials they contain to make new stuff and by returning nutrients in materials back to the earth. This way of making and using stuff is called ‘Cradle to Cradle’.
introduction by the author anno 2022
Ten years ago DSM published the first edition of “Cradle to Cradle for Kids”. Unfortunately this first edition is sold out. Due to its success we have decided to make a print on demand English edition.
We have also added the word circularity, more commonly accepted as a
strategy for a better world and fully embracing the C2C philosophy.
I addressed the concept of reuse and circularity more than 40 years ago
in the September 1976 edition of Italian Domus magazine. The flow of
materials and how re-use can generate circular transformation systems are
illustrated. If we look at the world now in 2019 there is an ever increasing need to create
circular transformation systems as plastic ocean soup, space pollution, climate change and reduction of biodiversity is ever increasing each year.
Circular systems will only be a success if we, as users, are becoming an integral part of the
material transformation process. This requires well educated consumers and that is why we have written this book for all the children in the world to become critical users of the material transformation chain with full respect for our beautiful Earth.
